About Highland Lakes Barndominiums

Highland Lakes Barndominiums is operated by Compass Camper LLC, an Oregon-registered marketing company doing business as Compass Lead Group. We are not a barndominium and post-frame home building contractor and do not perform barndominium and post-frame home building work.

We operate this website to connect landowners and homeowners in Travis, Williamson, Burnet, Llano, Bastrop and Caldwell counties with an independent barndominium and post-frame home building builder.

Who receives your request?

Every request you submit on this site goes to Suburban Buildings, LLC, an independent builder at 635 State Hwy 46 E, Suite 202, Boerne, TX 78015. They describe their own work as metal buildings, post-frame structures and barndominiums.

This site is not part of their company and they are not part of ours. Texas does not require a state license to work as a general contractor, so there is no state license to check, for them or for anyone else. We publish no rating or review of them, and this page prints no insurance certificate or warranty: ask any builder for those in writing before you sign.

When you submit a request, it goes to Suburban Buildings, LLC, an independent builder at 635 State Hwy 46 E, Suite 202, Boerne, TX 78015. No one else receives it. This site is not a builder and does no construction work of any kind. We hold no documents from them and publish no rating or review of them. From there they may call, write back, ask more about your land, or decide the job is not for them. Every decision about your project is theirs and yours to make. No contract exists until you sign one.

What to ask any builder for before you sign

This site publishes none of these and holds none of them. They are what a six-figure build is worth asking for, whoever you end up contracting with.

  • A current general liability certificate, sent to you directly by their insurance agent.
  • A written, itemized estimate before any work begins.
  • A written contract with a change-order process and a payment schedule tied to completed stages.
  • Engineered plans sealed by a Texas-licensed engineer where the county, the lender or the site calls for them.
  • Their written warranty terms, in the contract rather than in conversation.

Texas does not require a state license to work as a general contractor, so no builder on this site is described as licensed. The trades that carry a Texas license, septic installers, electricians, plumbers and HVAC contractors, are checked on the state's own lookups, and the guides tell you where.

What this site is for

Two things. First, the county-by-county record of who permits what before a barndominium goes up in these six counties, read at each office's own site with the date shown, because nobody else publishes that map. Second, when you are ready to build, your request goes to Suburban Buildings, LLC, an independent builder in Boerne, Texas.

We publish no testimonials, no team photos, no job counts and no awards, because we have none to publish honestly. We publish sources and dates instead.
