About Highland Lakes Barndominiums

Compass Camper LLC, a marketing company registered in Oregon and doing business as Compass Lead Group, runs Highland Lakes Barndominiums. It is not a contractor of any kind, and it does no barndominium and post-frame home building work itself.

The pages here cover the permit, septic and ground questions for land in Travis, Williamson, Burnet, Llano, Bastrop and Caldwell counties. A request sent from any page goes to one independent builder, and the builder decides which projects to take.

The builder who gets your request

That builder is Suburban Buildings, LLC, an independent company. Their office address is 635 State Hwy 46 E, Suite 202, Boerne, TX 78006. Your request goes to them and to nobody else, under a written agreement Compass Camper LLC and Suburban Buildings, LLC signed on September 15, 2026. That agreement covers every Compass site that sends them requests. This site has one building partner, and it is them. In their own words, they build metal buildings, post-frame structures and barndominiums.

Here is what sits on file at Compass for them, and what does not:

Liability coverage on file

A general liability certificate. Carrier: Scottsdale Insurance Company. Each-occurrence limit: $1,000,000. General aggregate limit: $2,000,000. In force through March 1, 2027.

Better Business Bureau

Accredited, rated A+, zero complaints on file when checked September 6, 2026.

A Texas builder license

Not a thing in Texas. The state licenses no general contractor, so nothing exists to look up for them or for anyone else.

Reviews and warranty

None printed here. No customer reviews of them appear on this site, and neither do warranty terms. Get any builder's warranty on paper before you sign.

Neither company is part of the other. This site builds nothing. Their office is in Boerne, in Kendall County; whether that is close enough to your land is your call. Once your request reaches them, they choose whether to call, write back, ask about your acreage, or pass on the job. You decide whether to hire anyone, and nothing binds either of you until a contract carries your signature.

Papers worth asking any builder for

Of the five below, Compass holds exactly one from the builder above: the liability certificate, with its carrier, limits and end date printed in the list above. The other four are not on file here and are not published. On a house that costs six figures, ask for all five, whichever builder you hire.

• A current general liability certificate that comes to you straight from the builder's insurance agent. The one Compass Camper LLC holds from Suburban Buildings, LLC is dated September 14, 2026, and you are still free to request your own.
• An itemized estimate in writing, before anyone breaks ground.
• A written contract that spells out how changes get priced and ties each payment to a finished stage of the house.
• Plans sealed by an engineer licensed in Texas, wherever the county, the bank or the ground calls for them.
• The warranty, written into the contract, not promised over the phone.

Because Texas licenses no general contractor, this site never calls any builder licensed. The trades Texas does license, septic installers, electricians, plumbers and HVAC contractors, can be looked up on the state's own search pages, and the guides show where each one is.

Why the site exists

Two jobs. The first is the county-by-county record of who signs off on what before a barndominium goes up in these six counties, read at each office's own site and dated, because no one else keeps that map. The second is getting your request, when you are ready, to Suburban Buildings, LLC, an independent builder in Boerne, Texas.

You will not find testimonials, staff photos, project counts or awards here. There are none that could be printed honestly, so the pages print sources and dates instead.
